These giant two-page USAToday centerfold print ads for Apple products also appear in the WSJ, LA Times, NY Times, etc.

Notice that the TV ad and the print ads never use the Apple logo, just the slogan "Designed by Apple in California."

Their name "Apple" is never spoken

I can imagine Don Draper, the Mad Men protagonist, pitching this campaign.

I can hear him in my head doing the voice over for the TV spots.

The minimalist soundtrack immediately grabs the viewers' attention even though they may not be watching the screen at the time.

Nicely done

The script for the TV spots and the copy for the print ads are the same

The products are so well known by now, they are never mentioned by name in the ads

Just photos of people enjoying them as in the TV spot

This photo of the 2 pg. ad in the USA Today Wed.June 26 ad was taken with my iPhone without flash or correction.

USA Today centerfold 2 page print ads accompany TV spots

All you see in this ad is a pair of earbuds with their distinctive white cables being shared.

In fact you only see one earbud

Of course people who believe they can measure such things disagree.

Those same people didn't like the "Here's to the crazy ones" Campaign either

Which is what I believe Apple is going for during a time period where they haven't a new killer product to promote

The ads are saying, we're still here, we're busy creating the things you love to use over and over again

Be patient and the magic will return

This is the way Apple says they are the number one company in the world to the world

They aren't concerned about "surveys"

'Designed by Apple in California' ad ranks poorly in consumer survey
