Why do I have the feeling that Xiaomi's "custom" chips will be rip-offs of Apple's ARM chips along with everything else they have already ripped off from the iPhone 

I hope Apple puts the screws to ARM if they deliver photo copies of Apple's proprietary designed chips to Xiaomi

I also hope Apple acts to bar Xiaomi's "counterfeit iPhones" from entering the US, and punishes carriers if they sell Xiaomi phones.

There's always MVNO (mobile virtual network operator) to hang over the carrier's heads.
