Google, based in Mountain View, California, inherited the case when it bought Motorola Mobility in 2012 for $12.4 billion. The purchase was made in part to get Motorola Mobility's trove of more than 17,000 patents, which Google hoped would be used to counter attacks that its Android operating system was infringing Apple and Microsoft Corp. patents. Thus far, the strategy hasn't resulted in a significant legal victory against either company.

It's not as rosy for the US as it looks from this chart, because Comcast and other providers throttle their data speeds.

It's hilarious when these providers start grousing about not making enough money.
Comcast/Xfinity has to be awash in money, but they mete out a tiny fraction of through-put to users.
AT&T is even worse. We had to pay for a microcell signal booster in our house just to use our iPhones as a phone, let alone as a data/internet device!
I don't see any great deals from any of them!
