Combined iPad, Mac shipments make Apple world's largest PC vendor once again






In late 1989 I wanted to,sign Henry Lee Summer to Jimmy Iovine's new label, Interscope. Henry would have been their first signing.  Iovine really wanted to do the deal too, but we couldn't get Sony/Epic to let us out of our contract. Phil Quartararo was the A&R man for Interscope at the time who flew into Dayton, OH to see Henry headline at Wright State University. It's a long story which I'll save for later.

This is what they would say in New York about making a deal with Jimmy Iovine:  "Count your fingers" 

Having said that, it could also invigorate Apple's music business, but I think the other labels will be loathe to deal with Iovine, who they know as a slick competitor, some may hate him for beating them out of artist signings.

I could see the other labels exiting iTunes.
