There is opposition to the deal, but Apple apparently cut loose from Foxconn in order to make a deal with Bain for Toshiba. Make no mistake, this is an Apple bid for Toshiba. Apple wants to be free of its dependence on Samsung for flash memory chips. Apple has its own chip fab in California's Silicon Valley to advance research and design. This deal is for fabrication of mass quantities of chips.
