Ballmer Out At Microsoft

As long as Ballmer was in charge of MS, they were absolutely no threat.

I would imagine this was a "forced retirement" by the board.

Will they shutdown all of their empty MS stores now?

If they do, they would probably take a heavy hit on their leases, so they'll probably stay open for now, bleeding more money.

I don't think anyone can rescue MS.

The best case scenario is that they fall into an HP type downward spiral selling their patents to Apple, Amazon and Google.

Apple is in a prime spot to continue their move into the Enterprise and to change that culture.

Steve Ballmer's Memo to Employees announcing his "Retirement" from Microsoft (Microsoft shares continue to rise on news)

"..Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer has just announced his plans to retire from the software giant of which he has been chief executive since 2000.

Microsoft shares continue to rise in apparent reaction to the news. The shares have risen by nearly nine percent in pre-market trading to $35.28."
