Google has been using information gleaned from Apple iPhone users for 6 years, since the first iPhone launch in 2007, to build and refine their map database by phoning back home to Google's servers.

What is Apple going to do about "Street View" which was also started in 2007 using cars with omnidirectional cameras, both time and money consuming work.

Is Apple going to spend billions of its surplus dollars globally catching up with Google Maps Street View, and Transit directions, etc?

Is it yet another reason for the massive data centers Apple is building?

Yes.
